Drug and Alcohol Screening


Australian Workforce Assessors provide both Pre-Employment drug and alcohol screening  or screening of existing personnel. This can be conducted at our office or onsite.

Types of Drugs Tested

Our drug screens are fast and reliable and test for the most common drugs of abuse at the cut-off levels set out in the Australian and New Zealand Standards.

Urinary drug screening – AS / NZS 4308:2008

Saliva drug screening – AS/NZS 4760:2019

We test for:

  • THC / Marijuana
  • Methamphetamines
  • Opiates
  • Cocaine
  • Amphetamines
  • Benzodiazepines

We also provide a chain-of-custody service which includes specimen collection, packaging and transportation to a laboratory for confirmation and liquid/gas chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis.

Through our laboratory we can also offer the testing of additional compounds.

Policy Requirements

When a company is screening existing personnel, it is essential that the organisation has the underlying policies and procedures in place in the event an employee tests positive.

For new or potential employees, it is essential that organisations advise of their intention to screen for drugs and alcohol at the interview stage and they must outline the implications of testing positive.
